The pediatric laboratory is one of the facilities provided by the Soetomo Nursing D3 Study Program, as a vehicle for learning laboratory practice before students undergo pediatric nursing clinical practice. This laboratory teaches basic competencies in delivering students to be able to provide safe and effective nursing care for children (infants, toddlers, preschoolers, schools and adolescents) according to the level of growth and development, both healthy and sick, both directly and indirectly, both at home, community and hospital by applying various theories, concepts and principles of child care.
The competencies learned in this pediatric nursing laboratory are as follows: child growth and development examination skills, IMCI, basic infant immunization, lumbar puncture examination, Bone Marrow Punction examination, rumpleed examination, nebulizer and suction administration, baby massage, kangaroo method.
Facilities and infrastructure that already exist in the pediatric laboratory are adjusted to the areas that have been divided.
